There are 100 piles of gold bars. Each pile consists of 100 gold bars. The gold bars of all the piles but one pile are of the same weight. (That is, a certain pile is consists of ligher gold bars). The gold bars all have the same surface area and volume. How do you find out which pile consists of the lighter gold bars straight away in one step?

make a pile of 1 bar from the first pile, 2 bars from the second, etc. Weigh that pile and see how far off it’s weight is.

Measure the rads (amount of radiation) emitted from each pile. The lighter pile will be anomolous.

The lighter gold bars colour is difference with other bars.

Throw them in a vat of liquid mercury - gold is denser and will sink, but most other materials are less dense and will float. (The exceptions being tungsten and uranium - if your bars are made of this they would be lighter than gold, but won’t float in mercury).

Seriously, if they have the same surface area and volume there is no way that one pile would be lighter without not actually being gold.

I’m assuming there is a weighing machine that I can used? First mark all piles from 1 to 100 and take an incremental number of 1 gold bar from each pile. 1 from pile 1; 2 from pile 2 ; 3 from pile 3 marking them respectively and so on.. so knowing the sum of 1 to 100 is (101×50) which is 50,050. Weight all 1 to 100 gold bar all at once on weighing machine to determine which pile is the lighter one. Assuming 1 genuine gold bar is a 1kg, if the result of the total weight is 50,049 kg… then ah.. ah.. sorry to little info problem cannot be solve by one step.
